How to take the Ozempic® pill

Additional considerations: Do not take Ozempic® pill with any other liquids besides water. Swallow whole. Do not split, crush, chew, or dissolve Ozempic® pill.

What to do if I miss a dose of my Ozempic® pill?

If you miss a dose, the missed dose should be skipped, and the next dose should be taken the following day.

A once-daily Ozempic® pill dosing schedule 

Take Ozempic® pill as prescribed by your health care professional. 

Ozempic® pill is taken once a day, exactly as prescribed by your health care professional, along with diet and exercise, to lower blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes.

Days 1-30: The 1.5 mg starting dose helps your body get used to the medicine. This dose is not intended to lower blood sugar.

Why does my Ozempic® pill dose change?

  • Take the 1.5 mg starting dose for 30 days
  • After your 1.5 mg pills are finished, you will be prescribed your 4 mg dose to help lower blood sugar 
  • After at least 30 days on the 4 mg dose, your health care professional may prescribe the 9 mg dose for greater blood sugar control
     

Your health care professional will increase your dose over time. Before taking your next dose, let your health care professional know if you have any side effects that do not go away or that bother you.

How do I store Ozempic® pill ?

  • Keep pills at room temperature, between 68 °F to 77 °F
  • Store pills in the closed Ozempic® pill bottle in a dry place away from moisture. You may not want to keep Ozempic® pill in the bathroom if it gets too hot and steamy 
  • Keep the blue cap on Ozempic® pill bottle to keep your pills protected  
  • Do not use a pill organizer or other container to store Ozempic® pill
  • Keep out of reach of children
